Volunteer Income Tax Assistance is a service that helps low income members of the Cedar City community file their income taxes.

My EDGE Project
Larger Purpose: This project will help me with my goal to become more proficient in the language of Accounting.

Project Goal: For my EDGE project I will be reviewing taxes from people who participate in the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance.
Outcomes:
A. If I review tax returns through VITA, then I will know if I want to go into Tax or Audit when I get a job.
B. If I review tax returns, then I can answer first year VITA student’s questions and help them learn the new program.
C. If I review tax returns, then I will become more well versed in governmental forms that are used when doing taxes
Deliverables: I will provide a schedule of the hours that I worked at vita throughout the semester along with pictures of me reviewing peoples tax returns. I will also provide a chart with the ebbs and flows of how many people came to VITA a night throughout the semester.
Differentiation: The reason I will stand out from my peers is that I love doing VITA I love meeting new people and helping them get refunds on their taxes. I will have a good attitude through the semester at VITA because I want to be here helping people.
